now i know some stuff, it's got 12,288k ram, but i dont know how many megabytes that is, it's running os 7.6, which i plan to downgrade so it loads faster, and plus my macintosh performa only has os 7.5.3, probaly not mutch i can do with it, but just thought i would tell you, and i dont know if the processor has been upgraded to a power pc, is there a way i can check this WITHOUT pulling it apart?
and it's got a 257.3 mb hard disk

Its got 12 Megabytes of RAM not bad for a Powerbook of that age. My Powerbook Duo 210 only has 8 MB RAM. I would suggest System 7.5.5 if you downgrade. My IIsi runs that no problem and it's a 20MHZ '030 processor. Should be no problem for a 25MHZ '040. Although you could put System 8 on it... Anyway, I would suggest, if you can find it, to upgrade the memory to 36 MB. That should give you enough memory for some older games/programs. I actually did sound recordings with my Duo and they came out pretty good. The only problem was that it took a while to render effects.
As for your performa, what model is it?

Your performa came with a powerPC 603 processor. It maxes out at 64 MB RAM. theres probably not too much you can do with it but play older games and word processing.

Run RF packet software on it. Those things last.
