View Full Version : Spare parts + Making parts + Repairing parts
I was just curious if any place sold spare parts for guns? I've heared of different pieces breaking often, and I'd like to have some of these parts extra in case breaking does occur. I'm interested in .22 rimfire semiauto rifle.
Also, is there a way to safely make any of the parts that might break before you can get to a gunsmith?
Finally, is there anyway to repair gun parts already broken?

Rimfire 22's are very reliable if you buy a Ruger,Marlin or Remington. The only part that I can think would be the extracter it pulls the shell out of the chamber. If you have a machine shop and machine knowledge you could make those parts. http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)

I agree with the ruger or marlin. I recomment the Ruger 10/22 it is a semiauto, 10 ar 30 round mag, very accurate and reliable and very customizable. It retails for about 260. You wont really have to worry about parts breaking on a quality rifle for a long time, with proper maitenence. In the unlikely event that something does occur, you can order a new part, the only part that you will need a permit for would be the reciever, which wont be breaking in the first place.
So is there an online store I could buy an extractor from?
My friend said any large gun store will be able to supply me with a part, but there arn't any around me.

-You really don't need any spare parts. Any decent-brand .22LR gun will fire tens of thousands of shots before anything really wears out just from regular shooting..... Ruger 10/22 is easily my #1 choice, Marlin is #2, especially if you want a lever gun.... Gun parts are sold mail-order, but guess what? Different guns use different parts, so you'd have to know which gun you have,,,, and it also depends on if mail-ordering gun parts is legal where you live. Belt-fed machine guns might be legal in Liberia, but that doesn't mean I can mail-order one to the middle of the United States.

The only parts that would really risk being broken from mishandling are things like scope mounts, if you use them.

Some other people I respect were saying that they had plenty of extractors breaking on them. This had/has gotten me worried.

Ruger 10/22 parts http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/ruger.html#m1022
Marlins, M60 extractors http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/bolts.html#extractors
they sell firing pins for both also, I found those by typing "Ruger 10/22 extractors" in the google search engine.

If you don't take care and clean your gun after use your chamber can become pitted and it makes it harder to extract the spent round's cases witch would cause that condition.
